Huldit Bike Lock Holder Review | The Best Universal Bike Lock Mount
Posted by Chris Avolio on
If you’ve been looking for a way to mount your U lock to your bike and transport that awkwardly heavy bike lock whilst cycling, keep reading.
The Huldit U Lock Bike Mount provides a durable and affordable way to transport your bike lock.
Several of the best cheap bike locks on the market offer fantastic levels of security for your bike. However, these cheaper locks are often supplied with nasty plastic U lock bike mounts.
Cheap U lock (D lock) mounts will often break within weeks and may even scratch or damage your bike. In other words, it’s worth investing in a good quality bike lock mounting system.
The Huldit comes in four different sizes and is capable of carrying almost any U lock. I’ll help you choose the right size for your U lock below.
Below I’ll also let you know the benefits the Huldit U lock Holster offers as well as a few alternative D lock mounts.
I spoke with the team at Huldit and managed to get a 10% discount for all of my readers.

The Huldit Bike Lock Holder / U Lock Holster
Unlike cheap bike lock mounts, the Huldit Bike Lock Holder puts a layer of soft, durable fabric between your bike’s frame and your lock.
This means, no more scratches, no more loud rattling noises and no more uncomfortable bike rides! What’s more, the Huldit retails at a very affordable price.
Designed and made in California USA, the Huldit Bike Lock mount is designed to last. The straps it uses are made from a durable paracord-like material.
The stitching on the Huldit is very precise and gives this bike lock mount a very sturdy feeling.
Unlike other bike lock mounts, the Huldit doesn’t require screws or bolts to attach your u lock to your bike.
Instead, it uses heavy-duty Velcro straps, which are lined with grippy rubber strands to keep the Huldit in place when transporting your U lock.
Which Size Huldit U Lock Mount Do I Need?
As explained above, there are four different sizes of Huldit Bike Lock Holders available: Extra Small, Small, Medium & Large.
Below I’ve put together a table showing what size U locks work with each size of Huldit Mount.
Once you’ve decided which size you need, click your required size to be taken to the Huldit product page.
Huldit Mount Size | Width of U Lock (D Lock) |
---|---|
Extra-Small | 3.8 to 4.1" (9.6 to 10.4cm) |
Small | 4.5 to 5" (11.4 to 12.7cm) |
Medium | 5 to 5.9" (12.7 to 14.9cm) |
Large | Wider than 5.9" |
To measure your bike lock’s width, you’ll need a ruler or tape measure. I used a digital ruler to give the most precise reading.
If your U lock’s width overlaps the size of two Huldit mounts, I’d recommend you opt for the larger size.
Using the Huldit Bike Lock Holder
I went for a ride with several different locks attached to my bike, using the Huldit D Lock Bike Mount.
I can tell you now, I love the Huldit. Not one of the locks I used made a noise whilst cycling.
Before producing my Huldit Bike Lock Holder review, I was a bit sceptical of how well the Velcro would hold up against some of the heavier U locks
However, the Huldit mount didn’t break a sweat with my Kryptonite Fahgettaboudit U lock or the Skunklock, two bulky bike locks.
There’s no denying, the Huldit isn’t as suave as the Oopsmark U Lock Holster, and if you ride a retro bike, it’s worth checking out my review the Oopsmark.
How to Attach the Huldit Bike Lock Holder to Your Bicycle?
Attaching the Huldit U lock Mount is super easy and only takes a minute. First, you need to choose where you’d like to mount the Huldit.
Mounting options will vary for different bike frames, but normally you should be able to mount the Huldit at the front or rear of your top tube. Once you’ve chosen the position, follow the instructions below.
- First, remove your Huldit Bike Lock Holder from its packaging and remove the shackle strap.
- Next, unfasten the Velcro mounting straps on the back on the Huldit mount.
- Now, wrap the Velcro straps around the frame of your bike, through the plastic buckle and pull tight before securing Velcro pads.
- Then, insert your bike lock, and attach securing strap in position to secure the lower part of the U lock’s shackle.
- Finally, your Huldit Bike Lock Holder is good to go! When using a different U lock (D lock), readjust the straps to the size of your new lock.
How Much Does the Huldit U Lock Mount Cost?
If you’ve been transporting your U lock around your handlebars or bike frame and it’s started to cause damage, the Huldit is an affordable and practical solution to this problem.
Similarly if you’ve been carrying a heavy lock in your backpack and it’s not comfortable or takes up too much space in your bag, the Huldit will take the strain off you.
For how practical and durable to Huldit is, I originally expected it to be much more expensive than other U lock mounts.
However, it’s actually sold at a very affordable price, especially for a mount that’ll last years!
The best deal I found for the Huldit was on their website here.

Best Bike Lock Mount for Skunklock?
The Skunklock isn’t supplied with a mounting bracket, which is an issue. The Skunklock is an expensive & heavy bike lock, and you might be asking yourself how to mount the Skunklock to a bike?
When I tested the Skunklock with the Large Huldit mount, it worked perfectly. The Huldit U Lock Holster was able to cope with the Skunklock’s weight.
Using the Huldit means, I don’t have to carry the Skunklock in my backpack. On longer rides, the Skunklock is bulky and weighty to carry, the Huldit U lock Mount made these longer journeys much more comfortable!
The Huldit Bike Lock Holder is definitely the best bike lock mount for the Skunklock. I’d recommend the Large size Huldit mount for the Skunklock.
Best Bike Lock Mount for Kryptonite Bike Lock?
Several of Kryptonite’s U locks (D locks) don’t come with bike lock mounts. On top of that, (after testing) the standard kryptonite U lock mount is fiddly to attach and doesn’t work very well.
If you use a Kryptonite U lock and need a better mount that will hold your bike lock securely in place, I’d recommend the Huldit mount.
The Kryptonite Fahgettaboudit Mini and several of the Kryptonite New York U locks aren’t supplied with a mounting bracket as they are too large.
When I used the Fahgettaboudit Mini with the Huldit Bike Lock Mount, I had no issues and was surprised by how quiet this mount was whilst riding.
The Huldit Mount is the best mount for the Kryptonite Fahgettaboudit and is a better way to mount your Kryptonite U lock than any of Kryptonite’s mounting systems.
If you need a bike lock mount for the Kryptonite Fahgettaboudit Mini, the Medium Huldit will work best. You can view the most up to date price here.
Best Bike Lock Mount for ABUS Bike Lock (U Lock)?
Several of ABUS’ larger locks don’t come with a mount, which is an issue, especially if you don’t wear a backpack whilst cycling.
Before using the Huldit, I wasn’t able to mount my ABUS Granit X-Plus 54 Mini and ABUS Granit Extreme 59/180HB U locks. But now I have no issues.
The ABUS Granit Extreme 59/180HB is one of the heaviest U locks on the market, weighing 5.95lb (2.7kg). However, the large Huldit Bike Lock Holder worked well with it and was able to cope with its weight.
The same goes for the ABUS Granit X-Plus 54 Mini. It doesn’t have a mounting system, but the best mount I’ve found for it is definitely the medium Huldit Bike Lock Holder.
Best Bike Lock Mount for Pragmasis DIB D Lock
You can see where this is going! The Pragmasis DIB D Lock isn’t supplied with a mounting bracket.
Weighing 3.75lb (1.7kg) (19cm shackle) the DIB D lock is another hefty D lock and carrying it in your backpack makes your journey less comfortable.
The medium Huldit Bike Lock Holder worked really well with the Pragmasis DIB D lock, and kept it out of the way whilst I was cycling.
If you need a bike lock mount for your Pragmasis DIB D Lock, the medium Huldit Bike Lock Holder is your best option.
Best OnGuard Bike U Lock Mount
After reviewing the OnGuard Brute and the OnGuard Pitbull, I can safely say the mounts supplied with OnGuard’s locks are some of the worst on the market.
At the same time, the locks OnGuard produce provide a seriously impressive level of protection for your bike. Especially when you consider they’re some of the best cheap bike locks on the market.
So many of these cheap plastic mounting systems break within a few weeks. So if you’re looking for an OnGuard Bike Lock Mount, and want a U lock mount that’s going to last, pick the Huldit.
The OnGuard Brute works well with the Large Huldit Bike Lock Holder, and the OnGuard Pitbull works with either the medium or large Huldit D Lock Mount.
Conclusion - Huldit Bike Lock Holder Review
Whilst the Huldit bike lock mount isn’t made from naturally tanned leather like the Oopsmark U Lock Holster, but it has the ability to transport a wider variety of U locks.
The Huldit mount is designed for your everyday cyclist and works with almost any bike frame.
Unlike the Oopsmark U Lock Holster, there’s no need for additional accessories to attach the Huldit to your bike. Everything is included upon purchase and the Huldit retails at a very affordable price.
I’m not a huge fan of Velcro, because as we all know, it becomes less and less secure over time. However, the Velcro that the Huldit uses is heavy duty and was specifically selected to cope with the heaviest bike locks.
After testing and reviewing the Huldit mount I can tell you that the Huldit U Lock Holder is the best universal bike lock mount on the market.
It’s a joy to use, and I’ll be using it with my Kryptonite Fahgettaboudit Mini and other D locks in the future!

Otherwise, as always, lock it or lose it!
